We are lucky enough to have a beautiful scenic cycle trail come through here at Leithfield Beach.
So don’t forget your bikes next time you come to stay, especially during the Summer. Or you could take a walk instead.
Beginning at the start of the Kowai track, it winds along behind the sand dunes of the beach. Meeting the Kowai River mouth it runs along its banks till it meets and underpasses the bridge at SH1, you follow the river further till you come out at The Old Leithfield Hotel.
You then ride along Old Main North Road stopping to cross the Highway at Pukeko Junction. This leads you along the lime chip path of Kings Road and back into the beachside community.
For a trail length of 3.6kms and 20 minute ride.
The trail has the option to continue onto the Amberley Trail finishing in 8.3kms in an hour.
This trail around Leithfield is also super popular with locals with many walking it daily.
*Please note- The approach to the Kowai River crossing is often affected by heavy rain-Always take care.
If the river is in flood please avoid using the trail.
